The independent publisher Image Comics has announced Twisted Romance, a new mini-series by British-American writer Alex de Campi (No Mercy, Mayday). The company, founded in the early 90’s by artists who abandoned the Big Two in search for creator ownership, has been celebrated for its increasing experimentalism. Twisted Romance will try to expand that reputation with its unusual format – the mini-series anthology will have four issues, each with 48 pages. Each issue will contain a main sequential story, a sequential short and a prose short. The most radical of de Campi’s initiatives? The four issues will be weekly, turning Twisted Romance a full-month event. De Campi has surrounded herself of several guests to draw and write the different stories, among them Alejandra Gutiérrez, Sarah Horrocks, Katie Skelly, Margaret Trauth and Naomi Salman. The Eisner nominated author has promised that “we’re going to break your heart, fill you with joy, and give you awkward pants feels. Sometimes in same story. Occasionally, even on the same page.”
Publication dates are February the 7th, the 14th, the 21st and 28th of 2018.
